4 Necessary Tips to Increase Data Recovery Success Rate

If you delete or format your precious data, till find suitable data recovery software, you should remember to follow the tips, which can increase the data recovery success rate, otherwise, if you do all below wrong operations, you will hardly recover the data back although using the so-called best data recovery tools. To spend several minutes here, then you can start to finish the retrieve task, and without doubt, you will get almost all lost data back with the highest chances of success.

1st Tip – Permanently Deletion Keyboard shortcut brings convenience, as well troubles
In Windows, Shift+Del (Delete) is used to permanently delete the file with only 1 convenient step, many people get used to use the keyboard shortcuts, including me. I always delete the important file by accident. Luckily, there is no 1-step-direct permanently deletion keyboard shortcut in Mac OS X, use CMD+Del will put the files into trash, however, CMD+Shift+Del will empty the trash, which also made permanent data deletion, undo is no longer work for data back. So my suggestion is don't use deletion keyboard shortcut often, because you still have another chance to confirm the right files needed to be deleted in the trash bin, of course avoid the important data losing.

2nd Tip – Little use system to avoid high risk of data overwritten
I noticed that many users asked the problem of inaccessible files after recovering by software in forums, this mainly caused by data overwritten unless the damaged data lost. Before explaining the reason, you could learn the principle of data recovery software. The deleted files will be stored in the Disk Header (Each hard disk has disk header), if you are not recover them in time, and there are more and more files write in, the previous files will surely be overwritten and damaged. The data recovery software is capable of finding the files in Disk Header and getting them back at the same time. But if the data was overwritten and damaged, they cannot do anything useful any longer. To avoid overwriting data, you should stop to do below several operations.
- You’d better don’t reboot the computer, the system will generate some system files in every restart.
- Don't copy the new files on the partition/disk where you lost your data, in case you overwrite the lost data.
- Avoid browsing the web, because web browser will generate cache files. (If condition permits, you should find the data recovery tool on the internet through other computers)
- Don’t use other software if unnecessary, some software will generate log files as well.

3rd Tip – Free up space where you lost your files, decrease the chance of overwriting lost files
In a sense, freeing up some space out will ease the burden of data overwriting, you can take a try. Deleting the files that you don’t need anymore, migrating files to other locations, empting the recycle bin or browser cache and uninstalling unnecessary program, etc. are available.

4th Tip – Prevention is better than cure.
Periodical data backup through data backup and restore software could rescue your data even lost all data. Alternatively, you should prepare installing a data recovery toolkit in case of data losing one day. If not, searching and installing data recovery after data losing will increase the risk of data were being overwritten, meanwhile it decreases the chances of success for data retrieving. If you don’t do these two preparations, after finding the optimal data recovery, remember do not install to the partition where your lost files located.

To find reliable data recovery for both Windows and Mac, you can refer to the article regarding Windows/Mac data recovery suggestions, you will find the related tips to find the most suitable data recovery tool for yourself.

Hope above 4 tips will provide you the useful preparations in the face of data loss and increase the success rate as most possible as you can, no matter how it occurs.
