Any cheap software
that can do the job of external hard drive recovery?
“I think I accidentally deleted all my files
from my Seagate FreeAgent Go (about 160GB of the last few years of wildlife
photos, family photos, work documents, etc). I really need and want them back!
I contacted Seagate and they sent me a link:https://services.seagate.com/diysoftware.aspx
I downloaded it as a demo, to see if it could detect my lost files. It sure
did! Only thing is that it is quite pricey at $100. Now if I have to pay $100,
then that's what I will do; the files mean much more to me than that. But I was
wondering if there were any other steps I should take...or if there is any
other software out there that can do the job for cheaper.”
Nowadays,
it is very common to carry an external
hard drive to share and transfer data by connecting to computer via a
cable. This portable and affordable storage media also own large capacity. This
is why it is so popular. People save or back up huge amount of personal and
business data in an external hdd, but isn’t strange to find some files missing
unexpectedly. Maybe accidental deletion like above illustration. Or may be
infected by malware links, etc. unlike deleting files on computer, there’s no
recycle bin in external hard drive for you to store temporary deleted files. Wait.
Don’t be panic. Here’s a way out—external hard drive recovery software.
Don’t Overwrite the Data to Increase the Chance of Data Recovery
The
space occupied by the deleted files has been marked as available for reuse. Once
a new file is added in the external hard drive, the deleted files will be
overwritten and then little possible to recover. You’d better disconnect to
computer and stop doing any actions to the drive. Then search for file recovery
software in the internet immediately. You
don’t need to pay high price for the tools in no time, because many data
recovery developers allow users to try demo version or trial edition before
purchase. So, you can verify in advance if the software can works well as
advertised to restore deleted files.

The reason why you can’t save the recovered data to the external hard drive is that the new saved files will overwrite the deleted files and make the data recovery impossible.
